Plant City, Florida--Fractured tree limbs, snapped retention lines and crushed fences - just some of the damage east of Plant City after a powerful storm cell hit.

Virginia Beery was inside her home and terrified. "The rain was coming so hard I thought the glass was breaking. I thought the glass was breaking in the windows and that there was no roof.  I really thought there was no roof up there."

Neighbor Helen Woods had just pulled into her driveway and was trapped inside her car. "We couldn't get out of the car, the rain was so heavy...I thought it was going to get lifted up...and then the hail.  We had hail."

Darlene Rawls knew something was wrong . "Well I was on the phone with my son who lives about four-miles down the road and he told me he was having hail, and I said well we're just having a light shower and about that time the power went out."

Residents say the storm was swift and severe, snapping trees and knocking out power along Wiggins Road and US 92.  

At one point, utility crews had to remove a massive tree limb from the roadway while police stopped traffic.

"People couldn't get through.  Line down, trees down, I mean nobody could get through," Woods told us.

Immediately afterward, residents came out to clean up the mess.  Even the littlest helpers were surprised by how powerful the storm was, one of which said "It was bad.  There were plenty of trees moving.  It was bad."
