TAMPA, FL -- I shared my money-saving New Year's resolutions earlier this year, and I said that loyalty doesn't always pay off.
So today, a friendly re-reminder that if you haven't already thought twice about the bank you're with or the credit cards you're using, it's my solemn duty as your Cheap Deal Servant to give you a nudge right about now.
And as always, if you're looking for more deals I'll be sending those out after the morning show. CLICK HERE
A huge thank you this morning for my good friend and financial life support advice system, Roger Munford. Thanks for being part of Ways 2 Save since almost day one!
Let's talk about a couple of credit cards and banking accounts that can help your money work for you.
Citibank checking and credit cards
Open up a new Citibank account by the end of April and then enroll in the Citi Thank You Rewards program and get points when you buy stuff that can be redeemed for free stuff.
Next, complete one direct deposit and one qualifying bill payment for two consecutive months and you could get up to $400 in gift cards.
Citi also has an exceptional credit card offer that might be a perfect alternative to the one you're using now. The Citi Thank You Preferred Rewards Card is a points card that gets you a substantial reward in just three months. You'll get $250 in gift cards when you redeem the 25,000 bonus Thank You points you receive if you spend more than $2,000 in the first three months.
On a regular basis, you'll get a Thank You Point for every dollar you spend and there's no limit to the number of points you can earn.
Citi is a great card if you just want to have another high-performance credit option in your purse.
Discover More credit card
If you're looking to replace one of your cards, I'd recommend the Discover More card.
Simply put, there's a 0% intro APR on all purchases and balance transfers for 15 months. You get a 5% cash back bonus when you buy stuff at gas stations, restaurants, department stores and so on. You can get up to 20% cash back bonus when you shop your favorite stores through Discover.com.
This card will work hard for you!
If you open a checking account with Chase and sign up for direct deposit, you get a $125 bonus.
While we're on the subject of money, check out this deal: 50% off any order of checks.
Don't be afraid to question something you've done year in, year out. When it comes to spending your money, getting the best deal is everything.
You don't have to change your financial instruments every few months, but take a look out there at all the credit card and banking options available you could be in for some very pleasant surprises.
We receive absolutely no financial compensation for mentioning any company, product, or deal. The purpose of this segment is to find great deals -- that's it.
