Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - Jackson scored one goal and assisted on two more
as FC Dallas piled more misery on the Portland Timbers with a 5-0 thrashing of
Gavin Wilkinson's men on Saturday.
The Timbers have now lost four straight games and have shown no signs of
improvement since the departure of former boss John Spencer.
Dallas, meanwhile, has won two of its last three games and has earned nine
points from its past six contests.
Portland had the first chance of the match after nine minutes when Michael
Fucito cut inside from the right wing and smacked a shot off the post.
But things went downhill quickly from there for the Timbers, who watched as
the home side netted two goals before halftime and added three more after the
break.
The first goal was self-inflicted as Hanyer Mosquera redirected a cross from
Jair Benitez into his own net in the 16th minute.
Ten minutes later, Dallas went ahead 2-0 when Andrew Jacobson's low shot from
the top of the area skipped past goalkeeper Troy Perkins and inside the left
post.
Jackson then took over in the second half to put the game comfortably out of
reach.
He scored three minutes after the break when his effort took a slight
deflection off of Portland's Mamadou Danso and found its way past Perkins,
while he set up Scott Sealy's goal in the 69th minute and another for
substitute Ruben Luna in the last 10 minutes of the match.
