TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Tyler Myers scored in the sixth round of the shootout after Drew Stafford tied it late in the third period and the Buffalo Sabres beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 on Saturday night.
Myers beat Lightning goalie Mike Smith after making several stickhandling moves. Stafford got the Sabres even at 2 with 16.1 seconds remaining in regulation with goalie Ryan Miller on the bench for an extra skater.
Vincent Lecavalier stopped a personal 15-game goal-scoring drought and Steven Stamkos scored early in the third period for Tampa Bay.
Mike Grier also scored for the Sabres.
"We can't find ways to close the game out," Lightning goalie said afterwards. "We sat back and let them come to us and ultimately they got a bounce toward the end and it's in the net and they won the game."
