Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed left
wing Nick Foligno to a three-year contract worth $9.25 million.
A restricted free agent, Foligno will earn $2.5 million for the upcoming
season, $3 million in 2013-14 and $3.75 million for 2014-15.
The Blue Jackets acquired Foligno from Ottawa on July 1 in exchange for
defenseman Marc Methot.
Foligno has 61 goals and 87 assists for 148 points in 351 NHL games, all with
Ottawa. He scored 15 goals and added 32 assists for 47 points in 82 games last
season.
The durable 24-year-old Buffalo native was selected by the Senators with the
28th overall pick of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in 81 games three
times in his four full NHL seasons and carries a streak of 177 consecutive
games played into the 2012-13 campaign.
