Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - A preliminary roster was announced for the
USA football team in the inaugural Euro-American Challenge game. The team
representing the United States will face a European all-star team on Sept. 1,
2012.
The contest will feature 11 former FCS players, and is the first of an annual
event bringing the best available American players who are interested in
playing professionally in Europe, versus the best European players, who are
willing to be recruited by American scouts to play in the United States.
The game will take place in the newly constructed National Stadium, located in
Warsaw, Poland. Large crowds are expected to attend the 57,000 seat stadium
and the game will be televised nationally in Europe.
Team USA begins practice on Aug. 27, and will train at the Joseph T. Lawrence
Sports Complex located in Hillburn, New York.
