San Francisco Giants right-hander Ryan Vogelsong was in the midst of his best start of the season Monday, but sustained a fractured right hand in the bottom of the fifth inning after taking a fastball off his throwing hand while swinging at a pitch.

Justin Ruggiano's sixth inning double put Miami in front and the Marlins' bullpen spun 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Alex Sanabia to down the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-1, in the opener of a three- game set from Marlins Park. Tied at 1-1 in the home half of the sixth, Placido Polanco led off with a single to center. Phillies starter Cole Hamels (1-7), who had a season-high 10 strikeouts, fanned Derek Dietrich and Marcell Ozuna, but Ruggiano delivered a two-out double, scoring Polanco without a throw. Ruggiano drove in an insurance run as part of a three-run eighth on a single up the middle, once again plating Polanco. Two batters later, Nick Green's bloop single against Phillippe Aumont sent two more Marlins across the plate. Sanabia (3-6) went 6 1/3 innings in his second start against the Phillies in May, giving up just one run on seven hits. The Cleveland Indians walked off in more dramatic fashion this time. Yan Gomes' game-winning three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the Tribe to a four-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners. The Indians, who tallied walk-off wins in the first two games of this set, rallied in the home ninth after Seattle plated a run in the top half of the inning to send the game into extras. After the Mariners pushed another run across to go ahead in the 10th, the Tribe roared back again. Charlie Furbush (0-3) allowed a leadoff single to Michael Brantley before first baseman Justin Smoak was unable to hang onto Furbush's throw on Drew Stubbs' sacrifice bunt attempt. The count was 2-2 before Gomes belted a fastball just over the wall in left field to give Cleveland its fifth straight victory.
