Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Athletics activated shortstop Cliff
Pennington from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.
He had been on the shelf since July 20 thanks to left elbow tendinitis.
Prior to being shut down, Pennington batted a paltry .197 in 82 games this
season with three home runs and 16 RBI. He was just 4-for-48 over his previous
17 games.
The 28-year-old hit .455 in three rehab starts for Triple-A Sacramento over
the weekend.
To make room on the roster, Oakland optioned pitcher Pedro Figueroa to
Sacramento. Figueroa tossed three scoreless innings over two appearances
since his Sunday recall.
