(Sports Network) - The Detroit Tigers have acquired second baseman Omar
Infante and pitcher Anibal Sanchez from the Miami Marlins in exchange for
highly-touted pitching prospect Jacob Turner on Monday, according to multiple
reports.
Miami also landed catching prospect Rob Brantly, pitcher Brian Flynn and a
compensatory pick in the deal.
Sanchez, 28, is 5-7 with a 3.94 earned run average this season and has spent
his entire seven-year MLB career with the Marlins, sporting a 3.75 career ERA.
Infante, 30, is headed back to the Motor City after playing for the Tigers
from 2002-2007. This season, he is hitting .287 with eight home
runs and 33 RBI.
Turner, 21, was selected ninth overall by the Tigers in 2009 and made his
major league debut on July 30, 2011. In three starts this season, the young
righty is 1-1 with an 8.03 ERA.
