Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Chicago Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster is
denying reports that he has been traded to the Atlanta Braves.
"THERE IS NO TRADE dont know where this info came from!" the 35-year-old
righty posted on his official Twitter account Monday.
Multiple reports on Monday had Dempster going to the Braves in exchange
for rookie pitcher Randall Delgado, who is 4-9 with a 4.24 earned run average
in 17 starts with Atlanta this season.
Dempster is 5-4 with a team-leading 2.11 ERA in 15 starts on the year and has
appeared in 534 games with the Marlins, Reds and Cubs during his major league
career.
Since Dempster has played in the big leagues for at least 10 years and been
with the same team for at least five, he has the right to veto any trade.
Chicago opens a three-game series in Pittsburgh Monday, with Dempster
scheduled to pitch the finale.
The non-waiver trade deadline is July 31.
