Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Brandon Hicks went 44 major league games
without hitting a home run.
He won the 45th with his first.
Hicks, who entered the game as a pinch-runner in the seventh inning, hit a
walk-off solo homer in the bottom of the ninth Wednesday to lift the Oakland
Athletics to a 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers.
The A's tied the game on Josh Reddick's two-run double in the seventh and won
it on Hicks' first career major league blast off Michael Kirkman to split the
two-game series.
Brandon Inge also homered for the A's, who have won 10 of their last 12.
Michael Young and Nelson Cruz hit RBI singles and Craig Gentry had an RBI
double for the Rangers, who lost for just the second time in seven games.
