Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - The Toronto Blue Jays placed rookie pitcher
Drew Hutchison on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with an ulnar collateral
ligament sprain in his right elbow.
Hutchison was removed from Friday's outing against Philadelphia after just
nine pitches with elbow soreness.
The 21-year-old right-hander became the third Toronto starter in four games to
make an early exit because of injury and make a trip to the DL.
Brandon Morrow departed in the first inning of Monday's loss to the Washington
Nationals with a strained left oblique and Kyle Drabek left Wednesday's
setback to the Nationals with ligament damage to his right elbow. Drabek may
have to undergo Tommy John surgery for a second time.
Hutchison made his major league debut earlier this season and has compiled a
5-3 record with a 4.60 earned run average in 11 starts.
The latest replacement to be summoned from Triple-A Las Vegas is right-hander
Robert Coello, who appeared in one game for Toronto this year, tossing two
scoreless innings against Boston on June 1.
Coello posted a 4-1 record with a 3.00 ERA in 19 games (three starts) for Las
Vegas.
