A new UK study came out that suggests organic produce is not nutritionally superior to conventional foods grown with chemical pesticides.

I've had a couple of people ask me about it. Why pay more for organic if this study says there is no difference in nutrition?
It would be way too expensive to buy everything organic, but I do believe some fruits & vegetables are worth it.
For me, it's all about chemical exposure. I never like to assume safety and since we don't know the long-term health risks of most pesticides, I try to buy organic produce when it makes sense to lower my exposure.
This new study focused on nutrition and not on chemical residues in food. Read more stories on Heather's Natural Health.

I wrote an article about a study at Emory University where pesticide levels dropped dramatically in kids who ate organic foods--even for a week or so--compared to kids who ate conventionally grown foods.

I don't like to pay top dollar for sad looking fruit & veggies that travelled some 2,000 miles to get here. I would always pick conventional produce grown closer to home compared to a California grown organic vegetable.
The best solution that has worked for me is to get my produce from Sweetwater Organic Community Farm.
It's 10 minutes from my house. I pay the non-profit farmer about $380 dollars for the harvest season (October-May). I pick up 23 different BUNDLES of produce every other Thursday. It ends up costing me about $20 dollars for each pick up.
They literally pick the vegetables & herbs and put them in baskets minutes before I arrive.
I have enough to share with 2 to 3 other friends. It lasts longer in my fridge, it didn't travel 2,000 miles to get here and does not contain chemical pesticides. You can see if there are other farms close to you by clicking here.
