TAMPA — Nov. 11, 2008More Tampa Bay single-parent families will have the opportunity to own their first homes thanks to Humana’s Tampa Bay Benefits $100,000 charitable gift to The Warrick Dunn Foundation.

Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), one of Tampa Bay’s leading health benefits companies, awarded the one-time $100,000 signature grant to The Warrick Dunn Foundation at the Oct. 23 ceremony celebrating its 2008 Tampa Bay Benefits charitable giving program.

Humana Central Florida Commercial Operations Market President Sid Morgan and Humana Central and North Florida Senior Products Market President Dr. Scott Latimer presented the grant to Tampa Bay Buccaneer Warrick Dunn and representatives from his foundation at the grant celebration at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. More than 75 Tampa Bay business, civic and nonprofit leaders attended the evening awards ceremony.

"We are truly humbled and honored to receive the $100,000 grant from Humana.

It will enable us to provide even more opportunities for single-parents and

their children to own their first home," Dunn said. "Humana¹s commitment

to improving the community is a true example of corporate social

responsibility and we value their support.”

For the third consecutive year, Humana awarded a $100,000 grant to a bay area nonprofit organization working to improve the quality of life for people in the Tampa Bay community through its work in the areas of mind, body and spirit. This year, Humana received nearly 125 applications from area nonprofit groups and charitable organizations seeking the Tampa Bay Benefits $100,000 signature grant.

“We are honored to support this inspiring program and proud to further its efforts to help single parents and their children achieve the dream and stability of home ownership,” said Morgan, “particularly during this economic downturn in which we are seeing so many people lose their homes.”

The Warrick Dunn Foundation will use its $100,000 2008 Tampa Bay Benefits grant from Humana to provide as many as five additional single-parent families in the bay area the opportunity for first-time home ownership.

Through its Homes for the Holidays program, Dunn’s foundation provides down payment assistance to single parents who have been approved for first-time home ownership through nonprofit housing partners, such as Habitat for Humanity and city of Tampa-based housing programs.

With the help of business sponsors and community support, the Warrick Dunn Foundation also provides complete home furnishings for the recipients, including furniture, appliances, kitchen supplies, linens, groceries and home décor.

A panel of prestigious bay area business, civic and community leaders evaluated the 2008 Tampa Bay Benefits grant applications and selected the $100,000 grant recipient from three grant finalists –the Hillsborough Achievement and Resource Center, St. Joseph’s Children’s Advocacy Center, and The Warrick Dunn Foundation.

Community leader judges included James Full, Shriner’s Hospital for Children; Bridgette Mill, Tampa Bay Business Journal; John Long, St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce; Natalie Mealey, Pepin Academy of Tampa; Mike Alstott, O2 Solutions; Velia Pedrero, Hillsborough County Public Schools; Steve Sales, MacDill Air Force Base; Melissa Seixas, Progress Energy; and Barbara Strickler, the University of Tampa.

Humana also presented a $10,000 grant to each of the two other 2008 Tampa Bay Benefits finalists, the Hillsborough Achievement and Resource Center and St. Joseph’s Children’s Advocacy Center.
