Integrated HDTV – the HD Tuner is built into these television sets. This allows you to use an antenna to get the signal over-the-air from our tower on Channel 24.
HD-Capable (often called HD-Ready) - these television sets need an external tuner to receive the HD signal. These tuners can be supplied by a couple of “sources.” One source is your local cable company, such as Bright House Networks. They will provide you with an external tuner (or set top box) so you can receive the HDTV signals. Tampa Bay’s 10 programming is available on Bright House Networks on Channel 610.
You can also get your HD programming from a satellite provider such as DirectTV. To get the HD satellite signal you need an HD compatible receiver and an elliptical DBS antenna. The receiver should come complete with a built-in over-the-air receiver so you can hook it up to a separate off-air antenna and get Tampa Bay’s 10 HD signal.
Be a little bit careful with televisions that are described as HD-Ready. It doesn’t always mean they are capable of giving you the full HD experience. Be sure to ask if the set will actually receive and display High Definition programming before you buy the set.
