Immokalee, FL (News-press.com) - An Immokalee woman was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries after striking an alligator with her car in Collier County this morning.
Myrka Charles, 34, was traveling south on Corkscrew Road, just south of Whidden Loop Road around 5:50 a.m. when her Chevy Cobalt struck an alligator in the roadway and she lost control of the vehicle.
The car proceeded to travel onto the east shoulder and went through a wire fence, continuing east then striking a tree.
Charles was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital for her injuries.
