SANFORD, Fla.- The video shows George Zimmerman as he takes Sanford Police detectives step by step, through his version of what happened the night he shot and killed Trayvon Martin.
"They said are you following him? And I said yes, because I was in the area," recounted Zimmerman on the recorded video shot by police the day after Martin's shooting. "They said we don't need you to do that, so that's when I walked through here for the address."
The neighborhood watch captain says he couldn't see the teen in the darkness and was walking back to his truck to meet police when Martin actually approached him.
"He yelled from behind me to the side of me, "Yo man you have a problem," Zimmerman told police.
A violent struggle followed. Zimmerman says he shot Martin only after the teen reached, trying to take his gun.
"My jacket moved up, he saw it, he looked at it, and said you're going to die tonight mother f---er!"
"It's definably showing what his version of events are going to be going to court," says local defense attorney Rohom Khonsari.
He says while this is only one side of the story, it's still unclear what evidence the prosecution plans to present.
"Other than the neighbors that called 911, there are no other witnesses to this," said Khonsari. "If Zimmerman's version on this video is accurate, and those are the facts that are believed by the judge, then stand your ground absolutely applies to this case."
