Tampa, Florida - Light Yagami, Super Mario and Speed Racer spent the weekend in Tampa.
If those names don't sound familiar, then you are probably not one of the hundreds of people who put on a costume and headed over to Metrocon 6. The three day festival at the Tampa Convention Center celebrated Japanese animation, video games, and comics.
"I come back from being a Trekkie. There is a variety from what that used to be," said Doug Dennis, who dressed up as Nintendo's Mario at the request of his 17-year-old daughter. "Anime isn't just cartoons. It's drama, comedy, horror, action."
Metrocon continued through the weekend at the Tampa Convention Center. Participants enjoyed a fantasy masquerade dance, a human chess match, and a superhero stunt show.
