Tampa, Florida - After a nine-hour police search, a missing nine-year-old girl has been found safe in Tampa.

Brittany Brown was last seen at 2 p.m. Thursday, when her mom dropped her off at her aunt's house on the 400 block of Gould Park in Robles Park Village.

By the time Brittany's mom, Ykeshia Caswell, returned to pick her up at 5 p.m., the girl was gone.

By 10:30 p.m., Caswell called police to report Brittany missing.

Overnight, officers searched Hamilton's apartment and went door-to-door in the Robles Park neighborhood.  They also set up an automatic phone call to all houses in Robles Park and Grand Park, asking for information about Brittany's whereabouts.

By 8 a.m., more than nine hours into their search, Tampa Police confirmed Brittany was found safe.  She'd spent the night at a family member's house.

During the search, Brittany's mother told officers she'd run away before but had never been gone that long.

A search of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office website shows Caswell has six previous arrests for charges including cocaine possession and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
