Pinellas runaway found with Sex offender

St. Petersburg, Florida - A 15-year-old runaway from Pinellas County has been found in Longmont, Colorado with a convicted sex offender. The girl was reported missing on September 12. Investigators traced calls from her cell phone to the St. Petersburg home of 21-year-old John Smallbone.

Deputies were able to track the girl through her posts on a social networking website. That information led them to the Colorado home of the mother of absconded sexual offender John Smallbone.

Smallbone was arrested for Pinellas County warrants; one count Interference with Child Custody and one count Sexual Offender Failure to Register.

Smallbone is in the custody of Colorado authorities awaiting extradition to Pinellas County. The girl will be returned to her parents.
