Tampa, Florida -- Nine months after the owners of Club Empire voluntarily closed their doors amid public pressure, a new club has opened in its place. Dream Ybor opened on July 5 and Tampa Police say they are keeping a close eye on the business.
Club Empire had been open for 18 years before its owners shuttered the controversial night club last November. The club, located at 1902 E. 7th Ave. had been linked to three murders over the previous nine years.
Andrea Davis, a spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department says the owners have been "very cooperative" and says at this point the club has not had enough customers to require off duty officers.
