Brandon, Florida - A crash involving an SUV filled with kids, left a high school student dead Friday and six others with minor injuries. The accident happened along Kings Avenue near the intersection of Coppertree Circle shortly before 3:00pm.

Hillsborough Sheriff's Deputies say 17-year-old Tyler Stich of Brandon was killed in the crash after he was thrown from the vehicle.

Friends and family members streamed in, placing a cross, flowers and candles at the crash site Friday night.

"He was a great person," said friend Bruce Joel Celis.

"We heard the crash noise, just boom, like a sudden noise and the truck was just upside down," said Riverview High School student Brett Smith, who witnessed what happened from down the street.

"The car just rolled airborne, four to five times, threw the child out, and the vehicle literally landed on him," said another witness who was driving behind the S-U-V when it crashed.

Many of the other students involved attended nearby Riverview High School. Friends gathered on scene as word of the accident quickly spread.

"It's going to be hard," said Nick Bynum who thought of Tyler like a brother.

Traffic Homicide investigators are looking into the cause but so far the 16-year-old driver, Mickael Kryder is not being cited.

Tyler Stich was a student at the South County Career Center in Ruskin. Investigators he was not wearing a seatbelt when he was killed in the crash.
