Secret Service announces security, road closures in Tampa and St. Petersburg for Republican National Convention

Tampa, Florida -- Road closures and restrictions for August's Republican National Convention have been released by the Secret Service.

A press release that was issued Monday goes into detail over security and transportation restrictions, both in Tampa and St. Petersburg.

Much of the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway in Tampa as well as the area surrounding Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg are affected.

The restrictions are in place from Sunday, August 26 through Thursday, August 30.

Additionally, there will be intermittent traffic delays and temporary closures on interstate roads and throughout the area beginning on Saturday, August, 25, until August 30 to allow motorcades to travel to and from event sites.
